600 ‘shape the future’ in Dubai

600 ‘shape the future’ in Dubai

More than 600 delegates from the global cotton community joined us in Dubai last week at our ‘Dubai 2014’ trade event.

Hosted by outgoing ICA President, Mohit Shah, the two day event took place on 1 and 2 October in the Dubai World Trade Centre and Sky Bubble, Meydan. It attracted sponsorship from 23 firms and saw nine international speakers take to the stage. There was also plenty of opportunity for delegates to network and do business with two networking lunches, a banquet and post dinner celebration.
In a farewell speech that saw Mohit hand over the ICA presidency to Jordan Lea, Mohit paid tribute and thanks to his co-workers, to his family at Gill & Co, in particular his late father and uncle and to the ICA membership:

“I stand here today in front of all of you with a sense of deep humility and great pride. Humility in the wake of all those Past Presidents who have stood here before me- that list is long and illustrious. And pride in the reflection of this great Association’s history of 173 years built on integrity, reputation and global recognition that is second to none… I have confidence in the promise of the ICA because I know the character of our members. This is an Association that is a global cotton community that inspires honorable trading and these virtues give me an unshakable faith in the ICA and with this belief of our members and confidence in our ideals, this great Association will never tire…never falter… and never fail.

“It has been a privilege of a lifetime to serve as your President. There have been good days and tough days. But every day I have been moved by the greatness of our Association and uplifted by the goodness of our members.”  (You can view footage of Mohit’s farewell speech here >)

Next year’s event will take place in San Francisco – full details will be posted on our website as soon as we have them.
