500+ connect at Vision 2020

Over 500 participants from the global cotton community took part in our first ever Virtual Trade Event – Vision 2020 last week.
With a theme addressing the future of the cotton industry, the two-day event included sessions from a variety of industry leaders.
Day One of the event included a panel session of industry experts examining how the industry will respond to the events of 2020. It was followed by another panel session delivered by industry ‘Champions for Change’ which showcased an array of videos from the cotton community expressing their support for Women in Cotton.
Day Two was opened with Market Commentator, Ron Lawson acknowledging ‘What you don’t see coming hurts the most when it hits you…’. The event was concluded with an ICA Update delivered by Bill Kingdon (ICA Managing Director).
Speaking after the event, ICA President, Azeez Syed said: “I am delighted with the success of this first online ICA event. The sessions delivered were of a very high standard and the support from the industry through taking part was very encouraging to see.
“One thing that really surprised me during this event was the level of engagement from participants in this online context. The questions, comments and overall interaction throughout the whole event helped us feel that the community was connected. While there is no substitute for in person meetings, the ICA will most certainly be exploring the use of online events to complement it’s training and events offering in the future.”
Next year’s event will take place in Singapore on 27-28 October. Full details will be posted on our website soon.
